About the Bexley Dodgeball Association:
Our Mission
The
mission of the Bexley Dodgeball Association is to bring back the new
and improved sport of dodgeball. Dodgeball is a sport that can be
played by all people in a safe and fun environment.
Our Story
The Bexley Dodgeball
Association (BDA) was established on March 20, 2005. David, Michael,
Josh, and Christa Price, residents of The City of Bexley, created the
BDA as an idea developed from their time spent working with kids at The
Bexley Recreation Department's Jeffrey Summer Camp.
The Price's
introduced an old childhood favorite, Dodgeball, to the campers in the
summer of 1997. Quickly, dodgeball became the campers' favorite
activity, to the point where they were disappointed if any other
activity was chosen. However, dodgeball was not only the campers'
favorite game, the counselors were quick to follow suite.
In the
summer of 2000, then Jeffrey Summer Camp director David Price received
information on the 1st Annual National Dodgeball Championship
Tournament to be held by the National Amateur Dodgeball Association
(NADA) in Chicago, Ill. David and the counselors created a team, which
they called the Bexley Reckers, and went out to Chicago to compete in
the dodgeball tournament. The Bexley Reckers won the tournament and
became the 1st ever NADA National Dodgeball Champions. That winter,
they went back to Chicago to claim the Indoor National Championship and
followed that up in the summer of 2001 by winning their 3rd straight
NADA National Dodgeball Championship. As a result, the NADA created The Bexley Cup trophy that would go to any team that won the Indoor and
Outdoor National Dodgeball Championship in the same calendar year.
